Cigarette smoking kills more than 480,000 Americans every year but it is also 100% preventable with the exception of secondhand smoking which causes 41,000 deaths per year.

Statistics of cigarette smokers in the United States. Men smoke more than women. The majority of people who smoke from from the age of 25-44 years old. The largest race/ethnicity group to smoke in America is American Indians.

By researching the demographics of those who still smoke, we can better understand why they do so. We can also have a target audience to advertise to about the harmful effects smoking cigarettes have to those who smoke them and to the people around them.

This info graphic shows the statistics on United States adults who smoke. In better educating ourselves on who smokes, we can focus on promoting to them on the harm smoking cigarettes has on themselves, others, and the environment.
